Positive affirmations are statements that individuals repeat to themselves to shift their mindset from negativity and self-criticism to positivity and focusing on their strengths. Positive affirmations can be used to cultivate a positive mental attitude and improve mental fitness. They are positive messages in the present tense that can help decrease negative self-talk and increase positive thinking.

By incorporating positive affirmations into daily life, individuals can cultivate a more positive mindset and improve their overall well-being

According to psychotherapist Ronald Alexander of the Open Mind Training Institute, affirmations can be repeated up to three to five times daily to reinforce the positive belief. He suggests that writing your affirmations down in a journal and practicing them in the mirror is a good method for making them more powerful and effective (Alexander, 2011).
